What is included in the Cozy Cabin Aurora Tour?The Cozy Cabin Aurora Tour includes transportation to and from the cozy cabin, and a fresh baked bannock ( a traditional bread), a fish chowder and hot beverages to enjoy the night.

Where is the Cozy Cabin located?The cozy cabin is located within 20 minutes of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

Is there a bathroom?Yes, in true cabin style - there is an outhouse onsite on the premises.

Is there a vegetarian option for the midnight lunch?Yes, if you let us know ahead of time, we can make a veggie chowder for any vegetarians in your party. Note that the chowder does contain real cream, and the bannock has butter it in. Please see our recipe page for a list of the ingredients.

What is the best time to view the Aurora?Yellowknife is known as the 'Aurora Capital of the world' as we experience an outstanding ~240 days of aurora viewing nights annually. Bucket List Tour offers the Cozy Cabin Aurora Tour from August to April.

Can I view the aurora in the summertime?As Yellowknife is north of the 60th parallel, we experience 20 hours of daylight in the summer months, which results in no true darkness in the summer. This makes it nearly impossible to view the northern lights in the summer months from May to August. Fun fact: Yellowknife actually has the sunniest summers in Canada, averaging 1034 hours of sunlight from June to August.

How do we get to the Cozy Cabin?When you book a tour there is a list of hotel and select BnB options for you to choose from in the checkout form that we offer pickup service at. We travel in a luxury coach (or SUV when needed) about 15 minutes out to the Cozy Cabin. *If your BnB is not on the list, we ask that you select and make your way to the nearest option on the list.

Why does the Yellowknife City Tour specify 7+ stops?The City Tour is 7+ stops as there are three additional stops that may be added to the itinerary pending the day of the week and the season, including: - The Buffalo Hanger 'Home of the Ice Pilots' is only open Monday to Friday. - The Ice/Winter Road is only available during the winter months. - The Ice Castle is only available during the winter months.

Will we see wildlife?As we are in the north, there is ALWAYS a chance there may be wildlife in the area. That said, on the Yellowknife city tour we will mainly see birds and potentially a fox.

Where do we get dropped off?We will drop you off at your hotel or BnB. We also give you the option to be dropped off at Old Town Yellowknife to explore more.

Can we pet the bison?Sorry but no. Bison are incredible strong, wild animals, that do not take kindly to being pet. We will remain in the bus when there are bison present for the bison's safety as well as our own.

Where are the bison?We are lucky enough to share our home with 'North America's largest free roaming bison herd'. This bison herd is protected and can be spotted along Highway 3.

Are bison dangerous?While bison are herbivores, they are still one of the most dangerous animals in North America. If provoked or if they feel threatened a bison will charge. This is why we keep a safe distance and remain in the bus when bison are present.

How big are bison?An adult male bison can weight up to 2,200 lbs (998 kilograms) and and adult female bison can weigh up to 1,000 lbs (454 Kilograms). They can get up to 6 feet tall.

Are bison fast?Bison have been known to run up to 70 km/h (45mph).

Are they Bison or Buffalo?While bison is the correct term for the species in North America, you may here them called buffalo interchangeably. While the buffalo and bison are in the same bovidea family they are not closely related. Buffalo are native to Africa and Asia and Bison are native to North America and Europe.

Where do we go on this highway tour?We travel down highway 3, along Great Slave Lake and spot bison from the comfort and safety of our luxury coach.

Will we see wildlife?As we are in the north, there is ALWAYS a chance there may be wildlife in the area. On the hike we will all have bear bangers. However, we will mainly see birds and potentially fox.

Can anyone do the hike?This is a natural hiking trail and we will be walking on rock surfaces as well as up/down multiple stairs. If you would like to discuss your particular concerns, please contact Tracy using our live chat or contact page.

How long is the drive ?We enjoy a 45-minute drive along the historic Ingram trail.

What fitness level is required?The hike requires moderate to intermediate fitness. We do not recommend this hike for those with hip &/or knee concerns.

I have bad hips &/or knees, can I do this hike?We do not recommend this hike for those with hip &/or knee concerns. By advanced request, we can customize this tour to view the Cameron River Ramparts which is a much shorter hike. To request an alternative hike please contact us.
